Modern Ruins

Modern Ruins

There are several hints along the North Fork of The American River that make you question a time that has long since past. There used to be a railroad here. I've seen pictures of it. From a distance I could see something small in size and orange in color. As I drew closer I began to realize that it was actually a large metal pulley that had become crusted with corrosion, sitting among the tall grass and weeds. I inspected it. Mud, moss, rocks and rust had taken claim to the once useful tool. I stood up and gazed around the landscape, listening to the powerful sound of rushing water. Beauty. Natural beauty. It was everywhere. Even modern man could not cover it. I'll be back soon. With pen & paper to write my day away.
What inspires you?
