Twenty years ago today the Space Shuttle Challenger blew up with all the world watching. Where were you?

I was a geeky 14 year old freshman in high school. I was sitting in the first row, second desk of freshman orientation class with my eyes glued to the tv set mounted in the top left corner of the room. I couldn't believe what I saw. All at once, 30 something students inhaled with a gasp of shock, followed by a tragic exhale of horror. I walked around like a zombie the rest of the day.

At that time...those astronauts (especially the woman) were my heroes.

I recall how they kept showing the image of the Challenger exploding on TV all day that day. Images like that stay with you forever.
