Huey Lewis & The News

What a fun evening. Huey was Great! We got to the fair a couple hours before the concert. There was a long line to for people to get free seats. We looked around and finally asked one of the staff members where the vip entrance was. With that figured out, we decided to walk around. After a long week working in the bathroom...I was ready for a drink! Michael had to buy me a Margarita because I left my purse in the car. They asked for my ID.

I know I look young, but c'mon, I don't look that young. See the wrinkles? I'm starting to get them around my eyes. O'well. Even the bartenders at the concert called my "honey". Like my hat? No, I didn't buy it. I was just having a little fun whilst waiting for Huey.

The dinner was nice. Nicer than I expected. They even offered soft foods that Michael could eat. But I wasn't going near that spaghetti...it had clams in it. Ick.
I assumed most of the people in this vip section were like us and got the tickets free. Mostly top employees of the fair. It was definitely an older crowd.
It was very comfortable...and that's what made me feel very awkward. Our tables were set above the ground on a stage similar to the one Huey was on. We were the only guests getting this sort of treatment. I wondered if this was done on purpose...the higher class being set above the "free" seats. I hated that. I looked around and saw so many people standing. I felt guilty being there. I'm no better than anyone else...why do I get free food, free wine, free tickets, free parking, free everything?
Still, I tried not to let this bother me and just have fun.
Huey played many new songs and many of the hits we know and love...such as "The Power of Love", but I didn't get to hear "If this is it" or "Walkin on a thin line". Like he said..."So many hits, so little time."

There were tables closer to the stage, but then you couldn't see the screen, so I chose to take one further back.
My camera is terrible. Only yesterday did I figure out where the zoom is. However, it's such a short zoom that it wouldn't have mattered. Plus all the night shots are so dark they're not worth posting. This Christmas, I'm asking Santa for a new camera!

After the concert, MB & I went on a couple rides. On the first one we sat in a square boxcar that took us up like a roller coaster, but then winded it's way back down. It looked easy...and it was, although it was faster then it looked and the car twirl around, making you feel like you were going to fly off the track. I liked that one.
The second ride we choose stayed closer to the ground. It simply spun around in a backwards circle. I've been on this kind of ride tons of times, but this one was a little different. Halfway through the ride a metal arm with a large canvas cover reached over and encased us in darkness. At first it was cool, but then I started feeling sick.
I could have done without that cover thing! No worries- once the ride was over my stomach returned to normal.
By this time the fair was closing. The police presence was growing. Many of them were on horses. I went over to pet one of them.
Traditionally, the last Saturday of the fair has been a reason for the younger crowd to riot...so I wasn't surprised to see so much law enforcement. Happy- more like it. It would have been nice to see more of them on the road as well.
Stopped at a red light in front of me was a heavy set woman with her friends that decided it was the perfect opportunity to open the car doors, get out, turn up their loud thumping rap music and dance so that the car full of boys next to her could watch.

We were going to stop for a late night coffee, but went home instead.
