DURAN DURAN!

Happy Birthday to me....again... this concert was also a gift. I don't think I've ever had my birthday last so long?!?!

First we went to dinner. Good thing we made a reservation. Lucca's was packed! Very nice place. Perfect location, only a few steps from the Memorial Auditorium.

The opening act was awful. Sad really. He was a skinny man, dressed in a blue suit and hopped all over the stage like he was crazy. I couldn't wait for him to be finished.

Finally at 9pm Simon, Roger, Nick, John and Andy walked onto the stage all wearing white shirts and black ties.
WHAT A SHOW!!
For 2 1/2 hours they rocked the place and kept me laughin, singin, dancin and shoutin.
Voice? What voice?

Here's the playlist...

SUNRISE
HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF
HOLD BACK THE RAIN
UNION OF THE SNAKE
ASTRONAUT
COME UNDONE
I DON’T WANT YOUR LOVE
CHAINS
WHAT HAPPENS TOMORROW
PLANET EARTH
TIGER TIGER
CHAUFFEUR
ORDINARY WORLD
SAVE A PRAYER
NICE
NOTORIOUS
IS THERE SOMETHING I SHOULD KNOW
CARELESS MEMORIES
WILD BOYS

Encore:
WHITE LINES
GIRLS ON FILM
RIO

Loved them all, knew them all by heart!

So when did the cell phone replace the flame of the cigarette lighter?
During Save A Prayer, we were asked to open up our cell phones. All over the place spots of bluish LCD screens glowed in unison. There were still some lighters, but I sure felt stupid holding up my phone...

I did get some photos with it though. If only I knew how to get them from that phone to a computer...???

Well guys, I'm tired. We spent the night in Sac., and woke up early to get the girls back to our foothills town off to school. I'm the only one who was free to come home and go back to bed.

Nap time.
I hate trying to sleep in the middle of the day!

The name of the band that sad, skinny man was in is Ima Robot. Not a great opening act for DD. But then again, who could live up to them??!!?? They are still awesome after all these years, even though Andy is getting Keith Richard syndrome. The others looked like the same old Fab Five!

My favorite Duran Duran song is "View to a Kill." Do you know that one?

"DANCE! into the fire...that fatal kiss is all we need..."

Yep! now it will be in my head all day.
I think it was the only James Bond theme song that made it to #1. ?
