"The Experience"

I am pooped.

It was a nice day though. I am currently sitting in SLC crew lounge waiting for my flight home. I flew in yesterday for a training class that lasted all day today. It's called "The Experience".

There has been a lot of hipe about it, so naturally I was interested. As soon as I got the online message that it was available to all FA's (not just the SLC based ones) I jumped and signed up for the first open class. Let me just add that SkyWest is the ONLY airline that does this. It was the brainchild of some very gifted FA's in our own company that many other airlines are striving to be able to do. We are currently rated #1 in customer service for FA's. I take pride in knowing that.

It was a day of pampering. The classroom was set up like a spa. We were waited on hand and foot. 2 massage chairs and 2 foot massage chairs complete with parafin wax hand treatments waited patiently for sore and tired employees.
It was NOT the strict classroom testing evironment I had been exposed to while here for new-hire training. Today we were treated like adults. Cell phones, eating, talking to the person next to us and potty breaks whenever we felt the urge were all allowed. Coffee, tea, water with lemon and lime never saw the bottom of the glass. We were served lunch as well as dessert. However, I couldn't eat it because of my dairy allergy...lasagna.

What was the purpose?

To teach us what an unforgetable experience feels like. We went over all areas of the service categories and uniform complience. We even took a personality test that revealed why we do what we do and how to best get along with co-workers. It also had some interesting information in regards to what kind of leader we would make. Basically, I'm a team player. I can go over this revolation (uh-hem) in a later post. Also pictures when I get the pixs uploaded. Stay-tuned.

Your safety is our FIRST priority, but service is 90% of our job and what we mostly do. This class was a great way to focus on how to best serve you...our customer.

I think I drank 10 glasses of water, 4 cups of coffee, 1 mug of tea, and ate 4 cookies, 1 brownie (yes, I made them for the class) and 2 breathmints! OY!

I was able to the eat salad for lunch.

I made some friends today too. I hope to see them out online. Most of them had read my article and 1 recognized me from that. Cool.
