Finally A Ferry Flight!
Last Saturday I worked a 6 leg local on the jet.
I was bitter about it all day. I couldn't shake the irriated feeling of someone actually thinking that was a doable work day.
The flight from SFO to Burbank was full of snobby passengers. Maybe it was my less that chipper attitude, but the former mayer of SanFran, Willie Brown was a jerk.
We were an hour delayed getting into Burbank due to a maintenance issue. My captain approached me as I was crossing seatbelts. He noticed that I had a few magazines in my arms (the Burbank crowd all read stuff like People, Star..etc.). He said, "Give me one of those magazines and I'll make your day."
I looked at him funny and handed him a magazine. I was curious...
"You have no passengers!"
AHHHHHHH!!! I screamed and jumped up.
This was a PERFECT day for me NOT have passengers due to my severe lack of interest.
With no passengers we would be ferrying the flight back to SFO.
No announcements, no serving drinks, no paperwork! I was thrilled. I got to sit up front in the observations seat with the FAA headset cushing my ears and watching the entire flight process from takeoff to landing.
What a time for my camera battery to die! I squeezed out a couple shots and video of the takeofff. For some reason when I hook up my camera to my mac, the video doesn't import. Anybody know why?
The next flight was cool too, because a thing called "St. Elmo's Fire" was going nuts all over the windshield! What a lightning show that was! It's actually electrical discharge caused by the heavy rain.
I love this job!
