Good Bye Ned
I just found out that one of my favorite pilots died last Thursday in a small plane crash. I'm not sure of the details...he was flying with a student.
Ned was a great guy. I will remember his bright smile and his funny ties.
Most pilots stick with the standard black tie, but not Ned. He wore bright happy ties during holidays and a red, white & blue patriotic tie on most days. He was always smiling.
He was the kind of captain that cared and treated everyone with respect. He wasn't vain or arrogent. I believe he had a family with young children.
He will be sorely missed.

Oh, no, I am so sorry!
Today I took my son for his annual MRI and checkup. The scan was clean, he is fine, and we breathe a sigh of relief for another year.
On the next gurney in the recovery room was a little guy, two years old. He has a brain-stem glioma and an even shot at survival. I'll be thinking of him.

Lucia, I'll keep your son in my prayers.

Thank you, Kathy, you are so sweet.
But while you are there, please say a prayer for Braden too. He has angelic brown curls and beautiful blue eyes. His parents are Tasha and Bill (I'm not sure of the dad's name, but I think I heard Tasha call him Bill). They've been traveling back and forth from their home near Boston to Houston where Braden has been undergoing treatment. He is not old enough for radiation (before about age 5 the brain is still developing too much, and radiation will kill the brain as well as the tumor), so he and his parents have a tough road ahead of them.
