The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

I just saw this movie.

In a word...CREATIVE

I have so many comments and thought about this movie. More words than time, so I will be adding to this post periodically.

#1- Favorite Quote:
"I got a million ideas...they all point to certain death. " Marvin the gpp robot.

#2- Favorite Scene:
When Arthur and the guy who works at the planet factory (I didn't catch his name...he said it softly and said it wasn't important) first emerge into outspace which he called the "factory floor", they are standing in a mechanical cart...like the kind coal miners used, and all around them huge planets are being constructed. VERY COOL! Loved the effects, though I thought it should have last just a little bit longer.

#3- Favorite hi-tech device:
The gun. At first I thought it would be the scanner in the kitchen that reads your mind and makes what food you are craving...but the gun that makes the person you shoot it at understand what your feeling...is a great idea! I also chuckled at what Trillion said when her boyfriend (the president of the universe) pointed it at her..."It won't effect me, I'm already a woman."

#4- Best song:
The one the dolphins sing.
'Thanks for all the fish'...Here's a line from it..."You may not share our intelect, which would explain the disrespect...so long, and thanks for all the fish."

#5- On Planet Vogon:
The fly swatters that rose out of the sand to wap you across the face whenever you had an idea...talk about extreme censorship!

Now, I definately need to read this series of books. I know, you can't believe I haven't read them. Well, it's like this...Up until about 4 years ago...since I've had my braces off, I used to get horrible migraine headaches. Reading was a trigger. I'm not going to be one of those authors that grew up with my nose in a book. Now I love reading. I just don't have as much time.

There are things I don't understand about the movie...and perhaps the book is more descriptive as most books are...but why was the towel so important?
The guide itself was hilarious, I just wish they would have used it more.

I loved the upbeat cheary disposition of the spaceship computer.
"We have two nuclear missiles headed our way, I hope you don't mind that I take an extreme coarse of action."
"Computer, do something!"
"Okay, handing over manual controls...good luck!"

Did ya stay til the very end? When the credits were done?? The guide had more to say about Arthur's last line..."I wouldn't want to go anywhere without my wonderful towel." Turns out those words were sucked through a space time continuium and totally offended some battling beasts. They sent missiles in the direction of the their new enemy.

Oh my gosh...so much more! I think I'll be seeing that movie again.
Stay tuned!

The books are fantastic. I got a chance to interview the author, Douglas Adams, for the college newspaper. He was very cool. I didn't know until later that he was an athiest.

Sadly, he died like 6 years ago.

If you look around, you should be able to pick up the leather bound Hitchhiker's Guide with all 5 of the books in it. It's pretty damn cool.

Rick sent us the bound series last year for Christmas. It looks a little bible-esque what with the bookmark ribbon and the black leather and gilded edges. I got a few funny looks reading it in public.
In as few words as possible, the books are bizarre yet fun. You just have to get over having main characters disappear from one book entirely, never appear in the next, and then pop in for a few chapters in the book after that.
I still have not seen the movie, but now that I'm all graduated I might actually have some time to rent it...
